Thanks for talking about YackTrack! We are also planning several improvements over the next few months as well. Also, if you ever have any feedback, just email feedback AT yacktrack.com.

Borders may be THINKING about its customers, but are they ASKING and LISTENING? I am curious to know if their decision to promote kids toys and games comes from direct customer dialogue and surveys, or if they made the decision based on some sales research or analysis that indicated this is a profitable area.
If they asked me I'd tell them I enjoy quietly browsing for books, and sitting and reading. If the "kids section" is designed to keep kids quietly entertained to allow customers to enjoy some tranquility, then I'm all for it.
If their new focus raises the noise level and disrupts the current ambiance, then they have lost me as a customer.

I recently went to a local beauty store to purchase my favorite lotion. They had a special promotion that week where they gave out samples of other products to customers if you were on their mailing list. It was a great promotion strategy for them to reward their loyal customers as well as extend their other products to us.

I did a bit of volunteer work for a local adult mentor program taking care of the little ones while thier parents were attending continuing education classes. Volunteering to me is self-fulfilling, but it would be great to get something from my favorite shop for it. A discount maybe? :)

This would be great for people who are looking for the right christmas present for the practical. If you're looking for a present for someone who has a specific hobby, this guide should help people determine what you should get for that special person. great idea!

I wonder if they would actually change their "GAP" style to something runway worthy just because it's going Europian. To tell you the truth, I think the Gap going European is a good booster for them. However, I don't think it may work for other companies just because Gap has been on the mainstream market for so long.

This method of advertising should a priority to local small businesses. Another great idea I've also heard about is for local small businesses to partner up with their local city's Chamber of Commerce. They can be a great resource to your small business when it comes to getting more customers in your store!
